The powder/liquid format lets the operator control consistency case by case and is the most economical MTA presentation per gram.

Directions to use

Dispense the required powder onto a mixing pad and add liquid a drop at a time, spatulating to the consistency the procedure demands — wetter for a pulp cap, a stiff putty for a perforation or apical barrier. Achieve haemostasis and isolate with a rubber dam. For pulp capping, place directly over the exposure in a 1.5–2 mm layer and cover with a moist cotton pellet or a glass ionomer base. For perforation repair or an apical barrier, carry the material with an MTA carrier or plugger and condense gently against a matrix — do not over-condense, which causes extrusion. Allow the stated setting time before placing the definitive restoration; a two-visit approach is common. Do not mix with anaesthetic solution or leave the mix exposed to air, as it dries out rapidly. Note that MTA can cause tooth discolouration and should be used with caution in the aesthetic zone.
