Features and benefits
- Fewest steps of any adhesive generation, which directly reduces chair time and the opportunity for technique error; markedly lower incidence of post-operative sensitivity than total-etch because the smear layer is modified and infiltrated rather than removed, so the dentinal tubules are never left open; no rinsing step, which is a real advantage in difficult isolation and in paediatric patients; no risk of over-etching or of collapsing the collagen network by over-drying; ideal for high-volume restorative practice and for anxious patients.
Directions to use
Isolate and clean the preparation. Consider selectively etching the enamel margins with phosphoric acid for 15 seconds first, particularly on uncut enamel, where self-etch adhesives bond less reliably — this selective-etch technique gives the best of both systems. Apply the adhesive and actively agitate it into the surface for the time stated in the IFU; passive application significantly reduces the bond strength of self-etch systems. Air-thin thoroughly to evaporate the solvent until the surface stops moving and appears glossy. Light-cure, then place the composite immediately. Recap at once and store cool and away from light — self-etch adhesives are acidic and degrade faster if left uncapped or warm. Confirm exact composition, setting times and contraindications against the SafeEndo IFU before publishing.
