Features and benefits

  • Creates the micro-retentive etch pattern on enamel that gives resin its mechanical bond — the single most important and best-evidenced step in adhesive dentistry; gel consistency stays exactly where it is placed and does not run onto adjacent teeth or soft tissue; distinctly coloured so full coverage and complete rinsing can both be verified visually; fine syringe tip allows precise placement on margins only, which is essential for the selective-etch technique; rinses away completely without residue. The 5 ml syringe is the practical chairside size — small enough to be used within its shelf life in a lower-volume practice, and convenient to keep one syringe per operatory.

Directions to use

Isolate the field, preferably with a rubber dam. Apply the gel to enamel first and then dentine, so that enamel is etched for approximately 15 seconds and dentine for approximately 10 seconds — over-etching dentine demineralises deeper than the adhesive can infiltrate and is a direct cause of post-operative sensitivity. Rinse thoroughly for at least 10 seconds, then remove excess water while leaving the dentine visibly moist and glistening; never desiccate etched dentine. Etched enamel should appear chalky white. Do not allow the surface to be contaminated by saliva after etching — if it is, re-etch for 10 seconds. Apply the adhesive immediately. Protect the patient's eyes and soft tissue; phosphoric acid is caustic to mucosa. Confirm exact composition, setting times and contraindications against the SafeEndo IFU before publishing.
