Features and benefits
- Combines haemostasis with tissue retraction in a single application, so a bleeding sulcus is controlled and displaced at the same time — the two problems that most often ruin a crown impression; astringent action stops sulcular bleeding within minutes without the systemic effects or tachycardia associated with adrenaline-containing cords; compatible with polyvinyl siloxane impression materials when rinsed thoroughly, unlike some sulphate-based haemostatics which inhibit the set; also useful before bonding a cervical restoration, cementing a crown or taking a digital scan of a subgingival margin. The liquid form is the correct presentation for impregnating knitted retraction cord, which remains the most effective method of mechanical sulcus displacement; a 15 ml bottle saturates a large number of cord lengths and is considerably more economical per case than a gel syringe; also convenient on a pledget for controlling bleeding at a cervical restoration margin.
Directions to use
Isolate and dry the field. Saturate a suitable length of knitted retraction cord in the solution and blot the excess — the cord should be damp, not dripping. Pack gently into the sulcus with a serrated cord packer, working around the margin. Leave in place for four to eight minutes, then moisten the cord before removal so the sulcus is not re-traumatised. Rinse the field thoroughly — residue inhibits the set of polyvinyl siloxane impression material and impairs adhesive bonding. Dry and take the impression immediately, before the sulcus collapses. Keep the bottle closed. Confirm exact composition, setting times and contraindications against the SafeEndo IFU before publishing.
